A 20-year-old local resident was convicted of large-scale fraud in Kirov, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office reports. The young man deceived his cousin, under the pretext of organizing repairs, having taken possession of a Mitsubishi Lancer car worth 335 thousand rubles. He then transferred the car to a third party, paying off his debt obligations.
The court found the defendant guilty under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 1.5 years in prison. However, taking into account the mitigating circumstances, the court applied a suspended sentence based on the provisions of art. 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The car was returned to its rightful owner, but the third party who purchased the car from the defendant did not agree with the decision on the fate of the physical evidence and filed an appeal. The Kirov Region Court rejected the complaint, upholding the verdict, while the applicant has the right to apply to a civil court for damages.
