A man in Yaransky district "rips out" pine trees by the roots

Residents of the village of Lom, Yaransky district, contacted the regional department of the ONF and said that for several months now a man has been digging up pine trees along with their roots and taking them away by truck in an unknown direction. After that, deep pits remain, into which small animals fall and die.

Locals know the culprit of the "landscape change": This is an entrepreneur who operates near the village of Lom. It is not known whether he digs up trees for sale or for his cottage. To date, more than one hundred pine trees have been excavated.

After that, trap holes remain in the ground. Some are more than one meter long and more than 60 cm deep. The pits are filled with groundwater and rainwater and become traps for small animals that die in them.

According to local residents, more than four years ago, this entrepreneur was digging up trees in the same way. After a gathering of local residents and daily calls to the police, he disappeared, and covered the remaining "craters" with earth for a "check mark".

The ONF reported that it was about agricultural land. "This fact was confirmed to us by the district administration, promising to hold an educational conversation with the entrepreneur. But by definition, there should be no trees in such areas. Agricultural crops should be grown there. Therefore, it will not be possible to hold an entrepreneur accountable for this fact," the regional department of the ONF reported.

They noted that perhaps the supervisory authorities will find signs of a violation of the fertile soil layer, then it will be possible to fill the pits. ONF sent an appeal to the regional Rosselkhoznadzor office.
