Kirov resident lost half a million, believing in the offer of a free electric meter replacement

      A 70-year-old resident of Kirov received a call from a man who introduced himself as an employee of an energy marketing company. He assured the pensioner that it was possible to replace the electric meter for free. The Kirov resident trusted the stranger and followed the instructions: she called the code that came in the SMS. Thus, the attackers gained access to her personal account on the portal of Public Services and additional information for blackmail.

      Then a "Rosfinmonitoring employee" contacted the victim, who threatened that the criminals could steal money from her bank account and also apply for a loan. The Kirov resident again trusted the self-appointed specialists and transferred personal and borrowed funds totaling 518 thousand rubles to a supposedly secure account. The victim was stopped from further financial losses by bank employees. A criminal case has been opened.
