One hunter shot another, mistaking him for an animal.

      The investigation of a criminal case against a 60-year-old local resident, who is accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence), has been completed in the Kotelnichi district.

      The investigation found that on the afternoon of January 6 of this year, the accused, along with a 65-year-old acquaintance, went hunting. Being in a forest area located one kilometer from the village of Valovy, Kotelnichsky district, the defendant in the criminal case noticed a shadow a hundred meters away from him. Assuming that there might be a wild animal there, the man fired a hunting rifle. However, the man's friend was in that place at that time. According to the investigative committee of the region, the man received a gunshot wound to his left leg and died at the scene.

      Currently, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to the court for consideration on its merits.
