Viktor Savinykh celebrates his 85th birthday

      Today, on March 7, Viktor Petrovich Savinykh celebrates his 85th birthday. In this regard, the governor of the Kirov region, Alexander Sokolov, congratulated the countryman on the holiday.

      Thus, Viktor Savinykh, a citizen of Kirov and the Kirov region, is twice a Hero of the Soviet Union, a legendary cosmonaut, as well as a true patriot. He is the 100th cosmonaut of the planet and the 50th of our country. Victor has conquered space three times. Many people know about his feat of saving the "dead" Salyut-7 station.

      As noted in the government of the Kirov region, Viktor Petrovich always speaks warmly of his native region, considering himself a "son of the Vyatka land." Viktor has done a lot for her, and still continues to take part in her development, Sokolov emphasizes. Viktor Petrovich heads the Vyatka community in Moscow, and also actively participated in the preparations for the 650th anniversary of Kirov.

      "Thanks to his work, a unique children's space center is operating in Kirov, and hundreds of children are falling in love with space. Viktor Petrovich has been awarded a number of high state awards, recently Viktor Petrovich was awarded the Order of Gagarin by Decree of the President of Russia," the governor added.
