It became known that you need to check the car with the onset of spring

      Nikita Rodionov, technical director of the international franchise car service network, gave some tips on how to prepare a car for spring.

      Tire change

      The necessary procedure is to change tires from winter to summer tires. However, unlike in autumn, there is no need for haste in this matter in spring. The expert advises waiting for the air temperature to be stable within a radius of +6...+7 °C. Citizens are also advised not only to sign up for tire service, but also to undergo a full-fledged diagnosis of the chassis, engine and paintwork. It is logical to combine these goals in one visit per service station.

      Inspection of technical fluids

      After winter, it is important to check all technical fluids. In Russia, it is recommended to change the engine oil more often than indicated in the technical documentation of car manufacturers. According to Rodionov, if you have driven more than 7-8 thousand kilometers over the winter, then you need to change the engine oil. You can choose a more viscous oil for a warm spring and save a little.

      In addition, it is recommended to check the level and condition of the brake and cooling fluids, as well as the transmission oil. In spring, it is not recommended to change the non-freezing washing liquid to regular water. It is better to carry out such a replacement closer to the summer. When checking technical fluids, inspect all nodes for leaks, as they often occur after winter.

      Chassis and steering inspection

      If you do not have time for a complete diagnosis of the car, you should definitely check the chassis. There should be no leaks, backlashes, or damage. When checking, special attention should be paid to shock absorbers, ball bearings, bushings and some other small things (silent blocks and dust covers). They are the ones that need to be replaced after the winter most often.

      Serviceability of the braking system

      In the spring, you need to make sure that the brake system is working properly, as the pads wear out faster due to temperature fluctuations and dirt. In frosty regions, motorists are faced with freezing pads to disc brakes. All this reduces the life of the part, which is why changing pads is often required in the spring. The expert also recommends checking the condition of the brake discs.

      Replacing the cabin filter

      In spring, it is most often necessary to change the cabin filter, because a lot of dirt accumulates on it over the winter. Disinfection of the air conditioner is a useful procedure in this case.

      Car body inspection

      After washing the car, the expert advises to carefully inspect the car body, paying attention to the thresholds, door edges and wheel arches. If chips or corrosion appear during the winter period, it is better not to delay a visit to the body shop. In dry weather, the paintwork can be treated with wax or ceramics.

      Checking the wiper blades

      This is also an important step, as the brushes may deteriorate by the end of winter. In spring, this part must be in good working order, as the brushes will work especially intensively on spring roads.
